The lower portion of the grindstone runs in a bath of water. As the grindstone revolves, it continually carries the water over the surface, thus cooling it and eliminating the risk of overheating. The grindstone runs at 90 – 150rpm. Motor speed is controlled by a variable speed switch. When the grindstone diameter is 250 mm, run the grinder at a lower 90rpm setting. Gradual wear of the grindstone can be compensated for with higher rpm.
