Fine ground, polished blade is forged from high alloy steel and tempered to 60 HRC, increasing edge retention compared to ordinary chisels. Fine ground blade with a 25° bevel requires honing before first use to achieve exceptional sharpness. We also recommend a 30° micro-bevel on the blade for a long lasting edge retention. The narrow, fine ground blade edge is ideal for working in tight spaces, especially when making dovetails. The handle is made of high-quality, dense hornbeam, which withstands even strong mallet blows. The hornbeam is shaped to an original ergonomic handle that is hand-polished and then treated with a paste wax finish, ensuring a comfortable grip in the hand. The hornbeam handle is fitted with a shock absorbing leather washer and stainless steel ferrule, making the chisel highly impact resistant and providing better handling when cutting mortises with a mallet.
